Monday 25th August......A win at Liverpool

The 1stXI scored an excellent win at Liverpool where the home team won the toss and put in Sefton who responded by scoring 212 for 4 declared in 50 overs. Ben Moore (69) top scored and Vin Mane (57), Paul Horton (27) and Ian Fielding (33 not out) all made valuable contributions. Liverpool were dismissed for 124 with Vin Mane taking 4 for 41 and Howard Parker 3 for 30.

Fleetwood Hesketh were surprisingly defeated at St Helens and it now means that Sefton are 30 points ahead of Fleetwood and Hightown who are both on 335 points. There are three games left, the first of which is on Saturday against Southport who are already promoted.

The 2nd XI remained at the bottom of the league following a 106 run defeat at home to Newton le Willows. Kev Neil took 7 for 97 in the visitor's total of 206 for 9 declared. Sefton could only manage 100 in reply with Ian Seabury (27) and Eddie Parker (23) making the best contribution. They now have three games left to avoid relegation. They are against Bootle, Ormskirk and Northern, three of the top four teams in the league!
