Saturday 11th August....1stXI win at Prestatyn.

The 1stXI made their longest trip of the season to Prestatyn.

They won the toss and elected to bat, going on to score 206 all out. Ben Moore made 90 before he was run out and there were good contributions from John Jackson (36) and Robbie Houghton (26). Robbie went on to complete a fine all-round match by taking 6 for 65 as the home side were dismissed for 188 in 55 overs. Stuart Wade took 3 for 51.

Wigan were the visitors to Sefton Park to play 2ndXI. Sefton were put in to bat and went on to score 184 for 5 with Ian Seabury scoring 92 not out and Ted Williams making 34 not out. In reply the visitors looked in control but let the situation slip and and they needed 12 off the last two overs and then 2 off the last ball. They made one run off this and the scores finished level as they made 184 for 5, a drawn game with the scores level.

The 3rdXI with a side that included five Under 15's entertained Ormskirk's thirds on the Lower Ground. The visitors were soon in trouble and were dismissed for 76. Skipper James Pearce led the way with 6 for 39 and Daniel Kelly put in a fine spell taking 2 for 7. Wicketkeeper Stuart Marshall-Clarke made a valuable contribution by taking 5 catches.

The 4th XI visited Wallasey and scored 234 for 5 with Jay Harrison scoring 97, Terry Corder making 45 and Nev Bann 40 not out. In reply Sefton bowled 15 overs at the last pair but were unable to dismiss them and the home side finished on 144 for 9. Naj Ahmed took 3 for 25 and Vince Abel 3 for 27 in a drawn game.

Sunday 12th August...2ndXI reach Chester Cup Final

The 2ndXI reached the Final of the Chester Cup with a fine victory over Huyton at Sefton Park. Sefton batted first and were dismissed for 221 in the 45th over. Nick Cockrell (64) and Mike Jackson (44) top scored and there were also 45 extras. In reply, Huyton were dismissed for 168 with Nick Cockrell taking 4 for 36 and Peter Kelly 3 for 24. They now play Leigh in the final which will be at Sefton Park on 2nd September

Saturday 18th August....Rained Off Again

For the third time this season, all of Sefton Park's games were rained off. The 1stXI remain in second place as we approach the August Bank Holiday weekend hoping for better weather
