Saturday 25th August...Draw with Highfield

The 1stXI retained second place in the League despite only drawing with Highfield at Sefton Park. The visitors won the toss and elected to bat. They were 115 for 8 at one stage but went on to score 173 all out in 67 overs with Robbie Houghton completing his 50 wickets in the league and going on to take 5 for 43. In reply Sefton faced 40 overs and finished on 158 for 9, facing 7 balls for the last wicket to ensure that the game was drawn. Ritchie Bann (34), John Jackson (27) and Robbie Houghton (23) top scored.

A fine all round performance by Phil Calrow was not enough to save the 2ndXI from defeat at Ormskirk. Sefton batted first and Phil scored 47 in the total of 146, Max Hill made 28, and then followed it up by taking 7 for 34 as the home side passed Sefton's for the loss of 8 wickets.

On the Lower Ground, the 3rdXI faced New Brighton's PD XI. The visitors batted first and declared on 160 for 7 with Richard Monaghan taking 2 for 17. In reply Sefton were at one time 34 for 4 but a fine undefeated stand of 58 between Daniel Kelly (18 not out) and Stuart Marshall-Clarke (39 not out) meant that the game finished as a draw with Sefton on 92 for 4.

The 4thXI played the other New Brighton side in their league and also drew. They batted first and scored 248 for 6 with Terry Cordner making 92 and Vince Abel 57. In reply the home side reached 22 for 7 with Robert Kelly taking 4 for 48

Peter Hazlehurst's Sunday XI beat Rainhill. They batted first and were dismissed for 129 with Ian Seabury (23) and Nick Blackburn (21) top scoring. In reply Rainhill made a good start but were dismissed for 94 with Pama Singh taking 5 for 24, Jon Sprosen 3 for 3 and I Kelly taking the last two wickets off consecutive balls and finishing with 2 for 24

Monday 27th August...Another Hundred for Ben Moore in win at Liverpool

Ben Moore scored 108 as Sefton declared on 254 for 7 at Liverpool in 54 overs. He was well supported by Ritchie Bann (32), Chris Wylie (26) and Graham Cashin (20). In reply Liverpool were unable to offer much resisitance and were dismissed for 129 with Dave Poskitt taking 4 for 50, David Baird 3 for 39 and Robbie Houghton 3 for 23. It was a fine all round performance to support the skipper's century.

The 2ndXI lost at home to Highfield. The visitors reached 172 with Matty Pownall taking 4 for 18 and Peter Kelly 5 for 54. In reply Sefton could only score 86 in a disappointing defeat.
