Saturday 30th August.............Southport in a spin.

The 1stXI visited table toppers Southport and Birkdale and on a poor wicket that helped the spinners were dismissed for 129 with Paul Horton scoring 48. Paul now needs 32 runs to complete 1000 in the League. In reply the Sefton "spin twins" Robbie Houghton and Howard Parker took five wickets apiece to dismiss Southport for 121 in a tense finish. Hightown who play Fleetwood Hesketh next week now move into 3rd place and Sefton Park require another 22 points to guarantee promotion.

The 2nd XI now have an almost impossible task to avoid relegation following their home defeat by Bootle. The visitors batted first and scored 173 for 6 declared with Bruce Neary taking 3 for 62. In reply Sefton Park were dismissed for 107 with Phil Calrow scoring 50 and captain Neil Disley getting 27 not out.

The 3NBXI were at home to New Brighton AH and, batting first, were dismissed for 74. Remarkably Dave Selvan scored 50 and of the remaining 15 runs that came from the bat Tony Green scored 12 of them. New Brighton lost only one wicket in scoring the required runs.

The 3RSXI visited New Brighton to play their other 3rd team, New Brighton KW, and achieved a much needed victory. New Brighton were dismissed for 116 with Pamma Singh taking 4 for 51 and Robin Surtees 4 for 29. In reply Robin went on to complete a fine all round performance by scoring 56, Scott Isaac scored 22 as Sefton Park went on to win by 2 wickets. Stuart Marshall-Clarke who skippered the side described the performance as "a great win on a difficult wicket".
