Saturday 10th May...1stXI Win, 2ndXI Century, 3rd XI Tie

The season really got going with the warm weather and some fine performances.

The 1stXI visited league leaders Northop Hall. The home side won the toss, decided to bat first and went on to declare at 197 for 6. Peter Kelly had a fine bowling spell taking 2 for 68 in 21 overs, David Baird took 2 for 25. In reply Sefton were always in control, a fine innings of 84 by Ben Moore assisted by 37 apiece from John Jackson and Robbie Houghton saw them home with four wickets to spare.

A century by skipper Peter Jones was the highlight of the 2ndXI's home game against Southport. The visitors won the toss and put Sefton in to bat. They were dismissed for 210 in 44 overs with Peter making 110, Phil Calrow contributed 30 and Matt Child 28.

Southport had the same number of overs to bat but did not really come close to winning. Shah Wali took 3 for 52 and Ted Williams 2 for 13 as the visitors reached 159 for 6 in drawn game.

The 3rd XI entertained league champions Northern thirds on the Lower Ground. Northern batted first and scored 232 for 7. In reply Sefton were left with last man Brian Viner facing the last ball of the day requiring 1 to win. He was bowled and the game ended in a tie. Star performers of the day for Sefton were Nick Saunders who took 2 for 34 and scored 67 and Jonny Sproson who took 2 for 31 and scored 39

The 4thXI played Wavertree's third XI. They put the home side in to bat and saw them declare at 203 for 4. In reply Sefton had a second wicket partnership of 99 between James Baird 77, a first 50 at this level, and Jakob Surtees-Smith (54) but the game resulted in a draw with Sefton requiring 11 off the last over and finishing on 198 for 6.

The 5thXI played their first game at the Liverpool College ground. Southport Trinity were the visitors who batted first and scored 157 for 8 declared. Tom Robertson took 2 for 23 and Eddie Parr 3 for 46. In reply Sefton were dismissed for 96 with Andy Lycett (34) and Simon Gozzard (19) top scoring

Sunday 11th May....Undefeated 150 for John Jackson in Cockspur Cup Win

John Jackson scored 150 not out and Chris Bellis made 57 as Sefton reached 223 for 3 in 35 overs in Sefton's Cockspur Cup win against Elton in Bury. In reply Elton scored 211 for 7 with John Jackson taking 3 for 27

Saturday 17th May....1stXI win at Wigan

The 1stXI visited Wigan and put the home team in to bat. In a rain affected game, the home side declared on 164 for 6 in the 54th over. Peter Kelly took 3 for 52 and Robbie Houghton 2 for 22. In reply Sefton reached the required total to win with one over left and 39 overs completed. Ben Moore was again the main in form, scoring 76, James Cain made 29 and Robbie Houghton 23.

Highfield were the visitors to Sefton Park for the 2ndXI game. Sefton batted first and scored 185 for 5 declared with Jonny Woodsmith scoring 81 not out, Dave Hort (31) and Phil Calrow (27). In reply Highfield scored 126 for 9 with two wickets falling in the last over. Matty Pownall took 3 for 9 and Shah Wali 3 for 47

The 3rdXI had a rearranged game against Wallasey on the Lower Ground. The visitors batted first and declared on 190 for 4. In reply Sefton required 20 off the last over and Robin Brown scored 12 before being dismissed as the game was drawn. Matt Childs (63), Vince Abel (27) and Dan Kelly (27 not out) were the main contributors to the Sefton total
