Saturday 31st May...David Baird hat-trick in win over Wavertree.

A David Baird hat-trick was the highlight of Sefton's win against Wavertree. Played at Sefton Park, the visitors were put into bat and reached 64 for 5 then added 61 before the next wicket fell on 125. This was followed by a David Baird hat-trick on 126 and a final wicket on 133. David Baird finished with 3 for 37 and Robbie Houghton took 5 for 55. In reply Sefton reached 73 when the second wicket fell and then struggled a little, not helped by three run outs but they reached the required to with seven wickets down. Appropriately David Baird hit the winnings runs, Ben Moore (57) and John Jackson (32) top scored.

The 2ndXI visited Colwyn Bay, won the toss and put Welsh side in to bat. They went on to reach 251 for 3 declared. Sefton were struggling in reply but thanks to Phil Calrow (53) and Matty Pownall (25), they hung on for a drawn game , finishing on 230 for 9 in a drawn game.

On the Lower Ground, the 3rdXI played Ormskirk's thirds. They were put in to bat and a fine last wicket stand of 65 between Nick Blackburn (79) and Robin Brown (4) enabled them them to reach a respectable 189 all out. This was was not enough, however, as the visitors went on to win with 2 overs left and 3 wickets down.

The 4thXI visited Maghull, where the home side lost only one wicket in reaching their declared total of 208. Sefton's reply was 117 for 8 in a drawn game. Top scorers were Stuart Lomas (42), James Baird (28) and Stuart Marshall-Clarke (24)

The 5thXI's home game against Northern's 4thXI resulted in a 128 run defeat. The visitors declared on 206 for 7 with Paul Stairmand (3 for 31) and Tom Robertson ( 2 for 34) being the pick of the bowlers. Sefton were dismissed for 78 runs with 9 overs left.
