Saturday 14th June....Defeat in high scoring game

Sefton won the toss and decided to bat in their home game against St Helens. They declared in the 46th over after scoring 266 for 3 declared. Ben Moore (68), Rob Hurley (35), John Jackson (70) and James Cain (81 not out) scored the runs. In reply the visitors scored 113 for the first wicket and then went on to reach the Sefton in the 60th over. Robbie Houghton took 2 for 91.

The2ndXI visited Bootle where they won the toss and decided to bat. The declared on 202 for 7 with Scott Isaac (57), Iain Squires (44) and Ian Seabury (37) top scoring. Bootle made 153 for 8 in reply as the game finished in a draw. Ted Williams took 6 for 40 and Matty Pownall 2 for 59.

The 3rdXI played New Brighton PD on the Lower Ground. They won the toss and after reaching 126 for 1 were all out for 165. Matt Child (33), Nick Morton (33) and John Davies (49) were the pick of the batsmen. In reply John Davies completed a fine all round game by taking 4 for 24 as the visitors were dismissed for 135.

The 4thXI also played a New Brighton side travelling to play the New Brighton AH XI. Sefton dismissed the home side for 177 with Sam Lister taking 5 for 59. The did not prove enough however as they could only score 90, James Baird made the top score with 19.

The 5thXI were put into bat in their home game at the Liverpool College ground. They declared on 175 for 9 in 45 overs. Jay Shankar made 62 and Simon Gozzard 44 as they put on 105 for the seventh wicket. Skipper Jamie Bowman made 17 not out. This score proved sufficient as the visitors were dismissed for 113 with Paul Stairhand taking 4 for 38

Saturday 21st June....Thirds draw with Fourths in only game.

The longest day of the year did not bring the best of weather and all Sefton Park games were called off apart from the 3rdXI v 4thXI league game on the Lower Ground.

The 4thXI batted first and declared on 229 for 8 with Vince Abel (87), Stuart Marshall-Clarke (30), Terry Cordner (24) and Dave Walton (29) top scoring. Brian Viner took 4 for 20. Dave Hort opened the batting for the thirds and finished on 106 not out, Nick Morton (20) was the next highest scorer. Sam Lister and Vince Abel finished with two wickets apiece as the game was drawn.
