Monday 25th August....Century for Chris Bellis in draw against Liverpool

The 1stXI had a great start in their home game against Liverpool with the visitors being 1 run for 3 wickets but a stand of 130 for the fourth wicket enabled them to go on to reach 224 all out in 58.3 overs.Robbie Houghton finished with 6 for 84 and David Baird 3 for 56. The highlight of Sefton's reply was a century by Chris Bellis who finished with 118. James Cain (25) and David Baird (29) contributed to Sefton's cause but in the end they were 7 runs short of the Liverpool total with 6 wickets down in a drawn game.

Robbie Houghton waits for a "caught and bowled" in the 1stXI home draw with Liverpool. He went on to take 6 for 84 and complete his 50 league wickets for the season.

The 2ndXI visited Wigan, where the home side declared on 188 for 7, Shah Wali took 2 for 30. Sefton's reply finished on 139 for 9 with James Baird (37) and Iain Squires (28) top scoring.

The 5thXI visited Liverpool to play their fourth XI and were dismissed for 171 with Rob Kelly scoring 23, Jordan Kevan 41 and Jakob Surtees-Smith 30. Liverpool passed the total for the loss of 4 wickets, Chris Mitchell took 2 for 40

Saturday 30th August....Home defeat by Orrell Red Triangle

Orrell Red Triangle were the visitors Sefton Park where they were put in to bat going on to reach 261 for 8 declared in 52 overs. Peter Kelly took 3 for 90 and Phil Calrow 3 for 74. Sefton's reply was going well at 87 for 2 but two quick wickets of Ben Moore (41) and James Cain (45) slowed down progress and they were eventually dismissed for 183. Paul Squires (36), Rob Hurley (31) and Phil Calrow (19 not out) made valuable contributions.

The 2ndXI visited New Brighton, decided to bat first and were dismissed for 86, Nick Blackburn continued his good form , scoring 29 and David Hort score 23. New Brighton lost two wickets in reaching the required total. New Brighton's victory meant that they won the 2ndXI championship, congratulations to them.

The 3rdXI visited New Brighton to play their AH XI and put the home side in to bat. They reached 189 for 1 at one stage but eventually declared on 217 for 8, Skipper James Pearce took 4 for 20. Sefton won the game by 5 wickets with Vince Abel scoring 48, Nick Cockrell 96 and Rick Anderson 50 not out in Sefton's reply.

It was honours even against New Brighton sides as Sefton Park's 4thXI played their PD XI on the Lower Ground. An finger injury prevented Peter Jones from playing in the 1stXI but he helped out the 4thXI by scoring 101 not out in their total of 161 for 9 declared. Ian Kelly took 5 for 57 and Nick Saunders 2 for 25 in the new Brighton innings but the game finished in a draw with New Brighton on 119 for 7

The 5thXI travelled to Northern and batted first. They were, at one time, 6 for 4 but went on to reach 108 all out, Tom Robertson scored 63. Northern reached the required total for the loss of one wicket but the 9 wicket defeat did not reflect the attitude and spirit of the young Sefton Park side.
