Saturday 13th September ....Season ends with seven wickets for Robbie Houghton

The 1stXI played their final game of the season at home to Ainsdale. They were put into bat, going on to score 145 all out with John Jackson top scoring with 40.Ainsdale's reply saw skipper Robbie Houghton take the first seven wickets and finish with 7 for 46. Phil Calrow took 3 for 24 as the visitors were dismissed for 123.

The 2ndXI visited Fleetwod Hesketh and, although defeated, scored sufficient points to avoid any chance of being relegated. The home side declared on 212 for 8 after winning the toss and deciding to bat. There were two wickets apiece for Iain Squires (2 for 2), Peter Jones (2 for 53) and Jordan Kevan (2 for 12). Ian Seabury (62) and Nick Blackburn (47) were Sefton's top scorers as they were dismissed for 177.

The 4thXI were relegated but finished the season with a draw against the league winners, Northern thirds. Northern won the toss and batted first, declaring on 178 for 9. Naj Ahmed took 4 for 45 and Robin Surtees 2 for 50. Sefton reply finished on 142 for 7 with Vince Abel (32), Dave Walton (34) and Stuart Marshall-Clarke (35 not out) scoring the runs.

The 5thXI travelled to Northop Hall and were dismissed for 112 with Matt Child scoring 42 and Simon Gozzard 19. The home side reached the required total for the loss of 3 with Jamie Bowman taking 2 for 25.

The fifths got back to winning ways on Sunday with a a win at Birchfield Park against their fourth XI. Birchfield Park batted first and went from 40 without loss to 49 all out. Robin Brown took 5 for 5. Sefton lost three wickets in reaching the total with Maadhau Kothari scoring 22.
