Saturday 2nd May....First XI draw at Burscough

The first XI were put in to bat at newly promoted Burscough. They went on to score 197 for 7 declared in 64 overs. John Jackson (72), Chris Wylie (46) and Sean Vandome (33) were the top scorers. The home side found themselves in trouble at 62 for 5 and after a recovery they still needed to bat for 6 overs with nine wickets down to claim a draw, finishing on 147 for 9 in 51 overs.

2008 Second XI champions New Brighton were the visitors to Sefton Park where they won the toss and put Sefton seconds in to bat. Nick Blackburn scored 29 and James Baird 26 in a total of 129 all out in 44 overs. Wickets soon began to fall in the New Brighton innings with Peter Kelly taking 5 for 16 and Dave Kirby 3 for 28, the visitors were dismissed for 88 in 38 overs.

The Third XI entertained Bootle's thirds on the Lower Ground. Sefton batted first and were dismissed 141 with Matt Child (43) and Nick Morton (29) being the leading run-makers. Bootle reached 100 for 4 in their reply but were eventually dismissed for 124 with Vince Abel taking 7 for 23 in 9 overs

Liverpool College was the venue for another exciting low scoring game as Sefton Park's Fifth XI were the home team against Sefton Park's Fourths. The FouthXI won the toss and decided to bat. Kev Walton scored 49, Jakob Surtees-Smith 15 and Adam Taylor 15 in the total of 128. Mark Garnett (5 for 47) and Peter Hazlehurst (3 for 30) were the pick of the bowlers. The total did not look to be enough as the Fifths reached 110 for 4 with Steve Squires (41) and Paul Stairmand (28) making runs but a collapse followed with 6 wickets falling for 14 runs as the fifths were dismissed for 124, 4 runs short. For the Fourths, the wickets were taken by Naj Ahmed (3-38), Iwan Williams (3 for 16) and Robin Surtees (2 for 3)

Sunday 3rd May...National Knockout victory over Darwen

The First XI achieved a comfortable first round victory in the ECB National Knockout against Darwen at Sefton Park. The visitors won the toss, put Sefton in to bat and saw them produce an opening stand of 108 between C Bellis (43) and David Baird (53). Sean Vandome (28) and Paddy Stern (22) were the other highest scorers in a total of 207 all out in 43.1 overs. In reply the visitors were dismissed for 144 in 33 overs, Stuart Guy took 3 for 26 and Dan Kelly 3 for 30.

Monday 4th May.....First XI victory over St Helens Recs.

The First XI followed their victory in the National Knockout with a their first league win of the season. At home to St Helens Recs, the visitors won the toss and decided to bowl first. Sefton were all out for 190 in the 48th over with Robbie Houghton (50), James Cain (33), Raj Patel (26) and David Baird (20) top scoring. In reply the visitors look to be in a strong position at 123 for one but they were eventually dismissed for 141 all out. Robbie Houghton completed a fine all round performance, taking 6 for 20, Peter Kelly took 2 for 36.

The Second XI played Southport and Birkdale in Southport. The home side batted first and scored 171 for 7 declared with Shah Wali taking 5 for 28. Sefton's innings was ended by rain when the reached 53 for 4 with Chris Wylie making 21.
