Saturday 9th May...Wigan double over Sefton Park
The First XI played Wigan at Sefton Park. Sefton won the toss and decided
to bat, they reached 106 for 4 but lost wickets and were all out for 138 in
the 49th over. David Baird (34) and skipper Rob Houghton (25) were the top
scorers. Wigan lost only one wicket in reply and reached the Sefton total
in the 36th over of their innings.

The Second XI travelled to Wigan and were put in to bat. They declared on
186 for 5 in 49 overs with skipper Iain Squires scoring 82 not out and Ian
Seabury making 42. Wigan lost only 3 wickets in their reply and won the game
in the last over of the day.

The Third XI played New Brighton PD XI on the Lower Ground. The visitors
batted first and declared on 156 for 9. Matty Pownall (3 for 23), Robin Brown
(2 for 11) and Vince Abel (2 for 29) took the wickets. Sefton went on to win
by 9 wickets with Vince Abel (36), Matt Child (46 not out) and Paul Eastham
(55 not out ) scoring the runs.

game for Fourth XI and the Fifth XI entertained Northern LP XI at Liverpool
College. Sefton won the toss and batted first. They may have regretted this
with the score at 41 for 5 but a stand of 156 between Steve Squires (61not out)
and Iwan Williams (89 not out) enabled them to declare at 198 for 5. Northern
were dismissed for 85 in reply with Iwan Williams completing a fine individual
performance by taking 4 for 24, mark Boyns took 4 for 22
Saturday 16th May....First XI win at St Helens
The First XI travelled to St Helens and put the home side in to bat. This
proved a good move as the home side were 9 for 3 and them 37 for 5. There
followed a stand of 88 for the sixth wicket but the home side were dismissed
for 142, Rob Houghton took 5 for 43 and Stuart Guy 3 for 22. In reply Sefton
lost 6 wickets reaching the required total with James Cain scoring 49, Dave
Baird 30 and Rob Houghton completing a fine individual performance by making
34 not out.

Fleetwood
Hesketh visited Sefton Park, where the Second XI won the toss and decided to
bat first. They declared on 200 for 7 in 49 overs, Chris Wylie (75), Iain Squires
(52) and Gaz Cowley (30) were the top scorers. Fleetwood Hesketh reached 104
for 5 in reply with Shah Wali taking 3 for 32 in the drawn game.

The
Third XI entertained Ormskirk in the Embee Trophy on the Lower Ground and moved
on to the next round with a 24 run win. They batted first and reached 223 for
6 in the 45 overs with Matt Child finishing on 99 not out, Nick Moreton scored
38 and James Harrison 33. Ormskirk were all out for 199 in 44 overs with Jordan
Kevan taking 3 for 35, Robin Surtees 2 for 42 and James Harrison completing
an excellent all round performance by taking 4 for 27.
