Saturday 4th July....50th wicket of season for Rob Houghton

The First XI visited Orrell Red Triangle and were dismissed for 156 in 62 overs. James Cain scored 44 and Paul Squires 27. Orrell's innings was delayed by rain but they required only 34 overs to reach the required total after losing 8 wickets. Rob Houghton completed his 50 wickets for the season finishing with 3 for 53.

The Second XI game at home to Lytham was also affected by rain. The visitors batted first and declared on 151 for 7 in 42 overs. Raj Patel took 3 for 16. Sefton's reply was going well but when Peter Jones was dismissed for 51, they began to struggle. Raj Patel (26) and Daniel Kelly (20) scored runs but it was left to James Sayer and James Baird to bat out the last overs and earn a draw with 9 wickets down.

The Third XI visited Northern to play their Fourth XI. They dismissed the home side for 137 with Vince Abel taking 7 for 29. In reply Paul Eastham scored 33 as Sefton reached 106 for 7 in a drawn game.

The Fourth XI produced the only Sefton Park win of the day when they defeated Caldy's Fourth XI on the Lower Ground. Caldy were dismissed for 139 with Jonny Sproson taking 3 for 38 and Peter Hazlehurst 3 for 20. Jakob Surtees-Smith scored 51 and Chris Brereton 39 not out as Sefton won by 7 wickets.

Saturday 11th July...Win over Ainsdale

The First XI played Ainsdale at Sefton Park. The visitors won the toss and decided to bat first, this did not look a good decision at 123 for 8 in 33 overs but they recovered to reach 220 for 9 declared in 55 overs. Phil Calrow (3 for 57), Rob Houghton (2 for 71) and David Baird ( for 33) were the pick of the bowlers. In reply Sefton got off the a good start with Sean Vandome (47) and Chris Bellis (67) putting on 86 for the first wicket. Two quick wickets fell but James Cain came to the wicket and scored 52, David Baird made 23 not out as Sefton reached the required total with 6 wickets down and 4 overs to spare as the rains began to fall.

The Second XI visited Ormskirk, batted first and reached 219 for 5 declared. Jonny Woodsmith (90) Chris Wylie (28), Iain Squires (36) and Scott Isaac (29) scored the runs. Ormskirk's reply saw them finish 10 runs short with 6 wickets down in a drawn game. Chris Wylie took 4 for 77 and Matty Pownall 2 for 71.

The Third XI played New Brighton KJ XI on the Lower Ground. Sefton batted first and declared on 196 for 9. Skipper James Pearce scored 64 and James Harrison 40. New Brighton reached the required total for the loss of 6 wickets

The Fourth XI travelled to Southport Trinity to play their Third XI. Jakob Surtees-Smith (50), Dave Walton (34), Kevin Walton (30) and George Lee (27 not out) scored the runs as they declared on 198 for 7. The home side were dismissed for 153 with George Lee taking 3 for 18, Naj Ahmed 2 for 59 and Iwan Williams 2 for 18.

The Fifth XI were defeated by Liverpool's Fourths at Liverpool College. Liverpool batted first and declared on 236 for 7 with skipper Jamie Bowman taking 3 for 40. Sefton were dismissed for 55 in reply with Jonathan Nothcroft scoring 12.
