Saturday 29th August...draw at Skelmersdale

The First XI visited Skelmersdale, won the toss and decided to bat. Their innings was interrupted twice for rain with about 40 minutes lost. They declared on 205 for 6 after 55 overs with Sean Vandome scoring 55, Dave Hort 44, John Jackson 33 and Robbie Houghton completing his 500 league runs for the season, scoring 43 not out. The lost time enabled them to bowl 42 overs in reply and the home side finished on 162 for 7 in a drawn game.

Wallasey were the visitors to Sefton Park for the Second XI game. Sefton won the toss and decided to bat. Ian Seabury (23), Matt Child Child (21) and Jonny Woodsmith (22) all made good contributions but no-one produced a big score and the were dismissed for 157 in the 49th over. In reply Sefton's hopes were raised were raised with Wallasey at 123 for 7 but they lost no more wickets in reaching the required total in the 49th over. Peter Kelly took 4 for 56.

The Third XI played Maghull's thirds on the Lower Ground. Sefton won the toss and put Maghull in to bat. Skipper John Davies took 5 for 56 as the visitors were dismissed for 125. Sefton reached the required total for the loss of 6 wickets. Ian Kelly scored 46 not out, Jordan Kevan and John Davies both scored 19 in Sefton Park's only win of the day.

The Fourth XI visited Wavetree to play their Third XI. They were put in to bat and declared on 157 for 8 in the 44th over, Terry Cordner scored 45 and Adam Taylor 23. Wavetree reached the required total after 44 overs for the loss 5 wickets. Robin Surtees and Chris Mitchell took 2 wickets apiece.

Not too much to say about the Fifth XI. They played Birchfield Park's Fourth's on their home ground and were put in to bat and dismissed them for 38. The home side lost one wicket in reaching Sefton's total.

Monday 31st August...Second XI win as First XI stopped by rain

The Bank Holiday Monday saw two Sefton Park games against Liverpool

At Sefton Park, Liverpool batted first in the First XI game and were dismissed for 199 in the 53rd over. Rob Houghton took 5 for 56. The rains arrived with Sefton on 99 for 4 eight minutes before the last 20 over were due to begin. Sean Vandome had scored 32 and John Jackson was on 30 not out.

The Second XI gained a valuable win at Liverpool where the home side declared on 181 for 7 after 45 overs with Peter Kelly and Chris Wylie taking two wickets apiece. Sefton were in trouble at 30 for 5 but Ian Seabury (31), Ted Williams (77 not out) and Matty Pownall (37 not out ) led them to victory by 3 wickets in the last over.
