Saturday 13th September...............End of Season

After the excitement of last week's promotion, the 1stXI were able to enjoy their final game when they visited Haydock to meet up with Jimmy Adams again. This time there was to be no dramatic story as the home team were dismissed for 179 with Stuart Wade claiming the West Indian's wicket after he had scored 58. Robbie Houghton took 6 for 35 which enabled him to reach 51 wickets in the league. In reply the names went into a hat for the batting order and Stuart Wade emerged batting at number three. He scored one run but says that he got a bad decision. Paul Squires (pictured right) scored his first half century for the 1stXI with 52 not out. Ian Fielding (54) and Robbie Houghton(36) were the other main contributors as Sefton went on to win by 4 wickets.

The 2nd XI finished the season as they began with a home game against Northern, this time in the league. Unfortunately the result was the same, another defeat. Northern batted first and scored 153 for 7 declared and in reply Sefton Park could only score 112 with Gareth Cowley (28) and David Hort (24) top scoring. They 2ndXI were relegated last week.

On the Lower Ground, the 3RSXI played Birchfield Park in a game that produced the most remarkable individual performance of the day. Birchfield Park were dismissed for 163 and Stuart Marshall-Clarke, who normally keeps wicket, took 7 for 55. In reply Sefton were dismissed for 137 with Kevin Walton (48) and Mike Kivi (20) being the pick of the batsmen.

The 3NB XI were relegated following a defeat at Northern where they could only score 70 in reply to Northern 184 for 5 declared.
