First Day of Season....2nd and 3rd XIs win despite rain.

It was good first day of the season at Sefton Park despite the rain which brought an early finish to the 1stXI game. They visited Bootle in the Premier League Knockout and dismissed the home side for 189 in 43.3 overs with Howard Parker claiming 5 for 37. The reply lasted only 11 overs in which Sefton reached 39 without loss, Ben Moore finishing on 28. Skipper Paul Horton said that it was a great start for the team and that they had fielded well.

The 2ndXI were at home to Caldy and dismissed the visitors for 167 with Kev Neill getting 3 for 26. Sefton Park knocked off these runs for the loss of only two wickets with "new boy" Phil Heath top scoring with 79 not out and Neil Disley scoring an undefeated 40. New skipper Steve Delve feels that they should have a good side this season as they seek to regain their Premier Division place.

The 3rd XI defeated Liverpool by 9 wickets on the Lower Ground. The visitors made 107 and in reply the runs were scored by Raz Salim, 49 not out, and Ian Squires 42 not out.
