Saturday 27th August...First XI defeat at Southport only game to go ahead

On a day when all other Sefton Park games were called off, the First XI travelled to Southport and Birkdale. The home side, with a possible promotion in their sites, mopped up the ground to enable a start at 2:15, two and a quarter hours late. Sefton won the toss and asked the home side to bat first, they scored rapidly to declare on 195 for 5 in 31 overs. Daniel Kelly took 2 for 41. Paul Squires (39), Paddy Stern (29) and James Baird (21) were top scorers in Sefton's reply but they were dismissed for 154 in 45.4 overs. Paddy Stern passed 500 league runs for the season, well done Paddy.

Monday 29th August...Win against Wallasey

The First XI faced promotion chasing Wallasey on a dull bank holiday Monday in Sefton Park.

Sefton won the toss and decided to bat first, they recovered from being 13 for 2 to declare on 228 for 9 in 55 overs. Jomel Warrican scored 67, Paddy Stern 50, Dave Hort 26 and Luke Connolly 24. In reply, Wallasey never stopped chasing the total but were eventually dismissed for 197 in the 43rd over with 9 balls left. Phil Calrow bowled unchanged for 21 overs taking 5 for 97, Jomel Warrican took 3 for 72.

The Second XI travelled to Newton le Willows and were asked to bat first. Iain Squires (85), Elliot Supria (28) and Andy Foulder (25) were the top scorers as they reached 220 for 8 declared in 45 overs. The match was drawn with Newton le Willows finishing on 211 for 7 in 41 overs, Ali Khan took 6 for 93.

The Fifth XI had a re-scheduled game away to Liverpool's Fourths. Liverpool won the toss and put Sefton in. Vish Singh scored 81, Abdul Rehman 54 and Adam Brennan 24 as Sefton reached 189 for 4 declared from 42 overs. Liverpool reached 94 for eight of 35 overs in a rain affected game to draw the match. Captain Jamie Bowman took three for 21.
