Saturday 5th May...Defeat at Newton le Willows

The First XI suffered a disappointing defeat at Newton le Willows, a team that they had defeated in the Ray Digman Trophy.

Sefton won the toss and asked the home team to bat first, despite taking a wicket in the first over, they went on to declare on 226 for 5 in the 55th over. Chris Dye took 4 for 81. In reply, Richard Forsyth scored 25, James Baird 40 and Phil Calrow 35 as Sefton were dismissed for 175 in the 49th over.

At Sefton Park the Second XI played Northern, won the toss and asked the visitors to bat first. Joe Roddis took 4 for 44 and Rob Kelly 2 for 40 as they declared on 214 for 9 in 49 overs. Sefton's reply saw Peter Jones score 37, David Baird 46, Elliot Supria 49, Rob Supria 32 and Iain Squires 20 as they required 5 off the last over and 2 runs off the last ball which were not achieved and Sefton finished 1 run short of the Northern total in a drawn game

Sunday 6th May...Defeat at Oxton in National Knockout

Sefton Park returned to the National Knockout with a tie at Oxton. The home side won the toss and decided to bat first, going on to reach 236 for 5 in their 45 overs, Matt Pownall took 2 for 39. In reply, Chris Bellis (73) and Sean Vandome (90) put on 173 for the second wicket but with wickets falling Sefton were unable to reach the required run rate and finished 7 run short with 229 for 6.

Monday 7th May...Third XI progress in Embee Trophy

The Third XI moved in to the next round with a win at Ormskirk.

Skipper Iwan Williams loss the toss for the fifth time this season and Sefton were asked to bat first. Dan Coonan scored 59 and George Lee 29 in their total of 203 for 7 in 40 overs. Ormskirk never looked like achieving the required run rate and finished on 128 for 7. Jon Fretwell took 2 for 17 and Terry Macklin 2 for 37.

They travel to Leigh in the next round.
