Saturday 12th May...Home draw with Fleetwood Hesketh

The First XI 's first home league game saw Fleetwood Hesketh as the visitors who won the toss and decided to bat. A rush of runs at the end of their innings enabled them to declare on 222 for 7 in the 54th over. Peter Kelly took 4 for 98 and Phil Calrow 2 for 63. Sefton's reply began slowly but runs for Chris Bellis (40), Richard Forsyth (36), Sean Vandome (32) and Adam Irwin (19) enabled them to reach a situation where 65 runs were required off 7 overs when Chris Dye went out to bat. He scored 42 not out in 32 balls with 4 sixes and 3 fours but in the end they finished 11 runs short with 9 wickets down in 58 overs and the game drawn.

The Second XI travelled to Orrell Red Triangle and were asked to bat first. Iain Squires scored 65 not out, Rob Supria 20 and Andy Foulder 17 as they were dismissed for 178 in the 50th over. In Reply, the home side finished on 170 for 9 with Andy Foulder taking 3 for 24 in a drawn game.

The Third XI played New Brighton's AW XI on the Lower Ground. Sefton won the toss and asked the visitors to bat first. Wickets for Liam Tollady (3 for 34), Robin Brown (3 for 19) and Adam Flynn (3 for 17) enabled Sefton to dismiss the visitors for 139 in 45 overs. Sefton's reply was never easy but runs from Alex Miller (36) and Adam Flynn (27) meant that they reached the required total with 8 wickets down.

The Fifth XI played Caldy's Thirds at the Liverpool College ground. Sefton were asked to bat first and reached 212 for 6 declared in 48 overs with a century from Matty Kuypers (103 not out) being the highlight of their innings. Rob Kennedy scored 30 and Julian Taylor 19. In reply Andy Crossley took 3 for 10 and Jamie Bowman 3 for 11 as Caldy were dismissed for 55
