29th May.......... Paul Anders takes nine wickets for eleven runs in 3rdXI and 1st team draw at Maghull.

The 1st XI visited Maghull and declared on 169 for 9 with Vin Mane scoring 89 before being run out. In reply Maghull reached 93 before they lost their first wicket but last wickets steadily until they required 9 off the last over and 6 off the last ball which produced a wicket for Howard Parker and the home team five runs short and one wicket left.

The 2ndXI were at home to Hightown and dismissed the visitors for 154 in nearly 62 overs. Bruce Neary took 4 for 25 and Kev Neil 3 for 43. It took just 33 overs for Sefton Park to reach the total for the loss of 5 wickets. Peter Jones top scored with 58 and Eddie Parker added 34 not out

 

Performance of the day, and probably of the season so far, came from Paul Anders (pictured right) in the 3rd XI who visited Southport. Sefton Park batted first and scored 183 for 3 dec. with Adam Norcott making an undefeated 65 and Ian Squires scoring 39. In reply Southport were dismissed for 38 with Paul taking a remarkable 9 for 11 as Sefton won by 145 runs.

On the Lower Ground a strong 4thXI defeated Caldy by five wickets. Caldy were dismissed for 131 with Anil Kumar taking 5 wickets for 37. A Kevin Walton fifty was the biggest contribution to Sefton's batting. Captain Paul Foulder said that it was a good team performance and that Anil had performed well in his first game for the team.
