Sunday 12th August...Defeat in Embee Trophy Final

The Embee Trophy Final between Sefton Park Third XI and Bootle Third XI at Sefton Park ended with a win for Bootle.

Sefton won the toss and asked Bootle to bat first. The visitors produced and opening stand of 60 but after that the Sefton bowlers got on top and they were dismissed for 144 with Liam Tolladay taking 4 for 14, Robin Brown 2 for 11 and Stuart Lunt 2 for 13.

In reply the Sefton innings did not really get going and despite constant hopes that the total may be reached, they were dismissed for 121 in 36 overs. Liam Tolladay (19) and Dan Coonan (19) were the top scorers.

Robin Brown won the "Man of the Match" award for his excellent bowling, taking 2 for 11 in 8 overs.

The Sunday XI maintained their challenge for the league title with a win against Hightown's Third XI. Asked to bat first, they declared on 157 for 7 in 51 overs, Adam Flynn (28), Ethan Knowlson (31), Phil McLoughlin (20) and Jon Sproson (27) were the top scorers. In reply, Adam Flynn completed a fine all round performance, taking 4 for 7 as Hightown were dismissed for 125 in the 39th over, Ethan Knowlson took 2 for 36
