Third XI win Embee Trophy but must wait to receive cup and trophies.

The Third XI won the Embee Trophy after defeating Merseyside Cricket and Cultural Club by 19 runs. However, it was claimed that a Sefton Park bowler had bowled one over more than his permitted four. No trophies were presented and the League Management Committee will decide the outcome of the match.

Sefton batted first and scored 153 for 5 in their 20 overs with Chris Brereton scoring 42 not out and John Davies 34. In reply, Merseyside Cricket and Cultural Club scored 134 all out in 19 overs with Chris Brereton winning the "man of the match" award by taking 5 for 32, Phil McEvoy took 2 for 25.

Earlier Sefton Park had beaten Southport and Birkdale by 9 wickets in the semi final. Southport were dismissed for 58 with Robin Brown taking 4 for 8 and 2 wickets apiece for Liam Tollady, Phil McEvoy and George Lee. In Sefton's reply Ed Booth scored 25 not out and Scott Isaac 19 not out.

  The Embee Trophy was presented to Iwan Williams, Sefton Park's Third XI captain, by Alan Bristoe representing the Liverpool and District Cricket Competition on the Monday evening following the final. The league had consulted the ECB who were able to confirm Sefton Park as winners following the circumstances described below
