Saturday 26th April...Defeat at Colwyn Bay

The First XI travelled to Colwyn Bay for their first league game of the season and welcomed Jerome Jones to the side following his arrival from Barbados.

They won the toss and decided to bat first. At 48 for 5, they were in trouble but a stand of 72 for the sixth wicket between Jerome Jones (52) and Daniel Kelly (26) gave the score some respectability. However, the remaining wickets soon fell and they were all out for 151 in the 55th over.

In reply two early wickets making the score 27 for 2 gave Sefton some hope but Colwyn Bay eventually reached the required total in 40 overs for the loss of 4 wickets. Jerome Jones finished with 2 for 37.

The Second XI entertained Southport and Birkdale at Sefton Park. The visitors won the toss and decided to bat first, going on to be dismissed for 101 in the 26th over. Pick of the bowlers were Joel Parkinson with 3 for 29 and Mark Chappell 3 for 22. After losing a couple of early wickets, Sefton then progressed comfortably to win by eight wickets. Richie Conlan scored 52 not out on his league debut and Mike Heaney finished with 22 not out
