Saturday 18th April...Two defeats by Birkenhead Park

There was a lot satisfying points to come out of two defeats by Birkenhead Park.

The First XI were at home where Birkenhead Park won the toss and decided to bat first. At 77 for 5, Sefton were in a good position but the visitors then put on 109 for the sixth wicket and went on to finish on 218 for 8 in 45 overs. Daniel Kelly finished with 3 for 46, Joe Roddis 2 for 28 and Fraser Hill 2 for 41.

Sefton's reply was steady but they probably just needed one batsman to make a big score. Adam Irwin (24), Richie Forsyth (27), Mark Wilkie (25) and Fraser Hill (23) all made good starts but the best stand of the day was an undefeated 42 for the last wicket between Joe Roddis (20 not out) and Peter Kelly (31 not out). Sefton needed 17 off the last over but scored only 4 to finish on 206 for 9.
