18th September.......End of Season sees 1stXI draw at home, 2ndXI finish as champions and 4thXI promoted.

Despite yet another rain affected Saturday, there was lots to enjoy on the last day of the season.

The 1stXI started the day with relegation still a possibility if results went against them, but in the end a drawn game in which the scores finished level saw them maintain seventh place in the table.

Sefton won the toss, asked Northop Hall to bat and Stuart Wade's 6 for 28 was the best bowling figures for the first team this season. Dave Poskitt took 3 for 53 and the visitors were dismissed for 124. Chris Whelan (32), Chris Nicholas (21) and Paul (42) led the reply which resulted in Sefton requiring 3 runs to win off the last over. Paul Horton was dismissed off the first ball, the batsmen crossed and Phil Heath was left on strike. He managed a two but was dimissed off the last ball of the day.

2ndXI captain Steve Delve (right) saw his side finish as champions after their drawn game at second placed Formby. Formby batted first and were all out for 131, with Steve taking 4 for 43 and Bruce Neary 3 for 30. In reply Sefton were 6 for 3 at one stage but recovered to finish on 128 for 6. Howie Baird (45) and Andy Battersby (23) were the pick of the batsmen.

The 3rdXI game at Northern was called off without a ball being bowled.
On the Lower Ground Paul Foulder (right) led his side to victory against Northern 5, a win that saw them promoted to give Sefton Park two sides in the Saturday 3rdXI Premier Division again. Sefton batted first and made 200 for 4 in 32 overs. Mark Foulder made 85 and Gareth Cowley 56. Northern were dismissed for 41 with Tim Rylands taking 5 for 27 and Brian Viner 4 for 10.

Congratulations

Congratulations go Peter Hazlehurst's Sunday XI who fininished second in the Sunday Third Eleven First Division and have been promoted to the Premier Division. This means that all five teams are playing in a Premier Division next year. No other club in the Competition can claim this!

Also, congratulations the under 15s who became youth cricket midweek champions when they defeated Liverpool on 19th September
