Saturday 24th June...Defeat for First XI but Four Wins and Two Centurions in Other Teams

Burscough visited Sefton Park for the second time in seven days. Burscough won the toss and asked Sefton to bat first, a decision that was justified with Sefton on 30 for 3. Scott Aitchison (42) and Neil Durand (21) then took the score to 89 for 4. After this, Daniel Kelly (25), Adrian Kinsey (29) and Rob Houghton (21) all made good contributions without producing the big innings to take Sefton past 200 and they were dismissed for 175 in the 53rd over. Hopes were raised, in reply, as Burscough lost their first two wickets for seven runs but a stand of 129 for the third wicket took close to the Sefton total which they passed for the loss of five wickets in the 32nd over.

The Second XI travelled to Leigh where the home side won the toss and asked Sefton to bat first. They found runs difficult to get and were dismissed for 117 in 36.4 overs with Iain Squires top scoring with 28, Andy Foulder scored 22 and Huzaifa Zubair 19. An excellent performance by John Fretwell who took 6 for 40 in 15 overs supported by late wickets for Mark Chappell, taking 3 for 6 enabled Sefton to bowl out Leigh for 95 in the 34th over.

The ND XI and CD XI both played New Brighton sides.

Neil Disley's ND XI played New Brighton's SLS XI on the Lower Ground. Sefton won the toss and asked New Brighton to bat first. A stand of 72 for the first wicket meant that the visitors promised a big score and they reached 216 for 9 declared in 45 overs. In reply, Sefton opened with Ryan Ouwerkerk and Michael Row. Less than two hours later, they were still there as Sefton passed the New Brighton total in 28 overs. Ryan Ouwerkerk finished with 135 not out (7 sixes and 17 fours) and Michael Row 74 (9 fours and 1 six).
