Sunday 8th May ......Defeat in National KO

The 1stXI suffered a 9 run defeat in the Cockspur Cup (National Knockout) against Bramhall.

Bramhall won the toss and elected to bat. They were all out for 188 off the next to last ball of the 45 overs. Howard Parker took 4 for 26 and Stuart Wade 3 for 21. In reply a Sefton Park side containing youngsters Matthew Phythian, Dave Hort and David Baird reached 179 for 8 in the 45 overs. Ben Moore (24), Chris Bellis(29), Robbie Houghton (43) and Howard Parker (31) top scored.

Saturday 7th May....Defeat at home to Hightown

The 1st XI suffered a 3 wicket defeat at home to Hightown. Hightown won the toss and asked Sefton to bat. Paul Horton (25) and Phil Disley (23) top scored in their total of 118. In reply Dave Poskitt took 4 for 39 and Robbie Houghton 3 for 33 but the away side reached the required total in 28.4 overs.

The 2ndXI drew at Liverpool. The home team batted first and reached 149 in 55 overs, Peter Kelly took 3 for 24. In reply Sefton Park batted for 36 overs and Peter Jones (45) and Bruce Neary (33) helped Sefton finish just two runs short on 147 for 5.

Terry Cordner's 3rdXI gained the day's only victory at New Brighton. Sefton batted first and declared on 162 for 9. Andy Battersby made 57and Terry Cordner (36), Phil Heath (36) and Ian Squires (22) contributed useful scores. New Brighton were all out for 134 with Peter Hazlehurst taking 4 for 18 and Kev Neil 3 for 28.

Chris Hart scored 125 in the 4thXI's drawn game on the Lower Ground against Liverpools's 3rdXI. Scott Isaac contributed 38 in the side's total of 203 for declared. In reply Liverpool reached 90 for 9 with Brian Viner taking 6 for 40

Saturday 30th April......Double for Ormskirk

Neither the 1stXI or 2nd XI progressed to the semi-finals of their respective Premier League Knockouts following defeats by Ormskirk.

At home the 1st XI game was reduced to 35 overs following the overnight rain but Ormskirk required just 23 overs to dismiss Sefton for 78, Chris Wylie top scoring with 22. In reply Ormskirk lost 3 wickets in 17 overs in passing the Sefton total.

At Ormskirk the 2nd XI game was reduced to 30 overs a side. Sefton Park batted first and reached 86 for 8, Adam Rowland scoring 19. In reply The home team took 19 overs and lost one wicket in reaching the total.

The 3rd XI game at home was abandoned without a ball bowled and the day's good news came from Robin Surtees's 4thXI who visted Bootle to play their 3rdXI and came away with a two wicket victory.

Bootle batted first and made 144 for 8 declared, with Brian Viner taking 4 for 39 and Sean Hogan 3 for 32. Sefton Park were struggling at 26 for 5 when Sean Hogan came in to make 46, Gareth Cowley made 46 not out. Robin Surtees said that Sean's innings turned the game.
