Saturday 9th September...Rain stops all but ND XI

On a day of overnight rain that carried on through the morning the First XI game at Burscough was called off early. The Second XI and CD XI games were called off after 12:00 pm inspections. Neil Disley's ND XI travelled to New Brighton to play their SLS XI who needed points to avoid relegation.

New Brighton won the toss and asked Sefton to bat first. They declared on 188 for 8 in 48.3 overs with Matt Child scoring 64 and Connor Melia 42, they had an opening stand of 90. Damian Mee scored 33 and Neil Disley 21 not out.

In reply, New Brighton were able to bat for 35 overs and finished two runs short of the Sefton total on 186 for 8. Tim Gray took 3 for 73, Damian Mee 2 for 67 and Harvey Shields 2 for 8. The drawn game meant that each side achieved 7 points compared to 5 points each if they had not played.

As a result of the games that were played, the First XI drop to fourth in the table. The Second XI have finished their programme and are assured of second place.
