Saturday 4th June...Centuries for Ben Moore and Paul Horton in opening stand of 240

The one wicket has just gone up on the scoreboard (right) as Paul Horton is dismissed for 123 and Ben Moore is on 111 as an opening stand of 240 comes to an end just 9 runs short of the Club record held by David Hayes and Howard Parker. The difference this time is that both batsmen made a hundred with Ben finishing on 119 not out in Sefton Park's home game against Leigh.

Leigh won the toss and put Sefton in to bat. Following the opening stand Robin Morris made 26 not out in 14 balls as Sefton declared on 274 for 1. In reply the visitors were all out for 195 in the next to last over of the day with Howard Parker taking 5 for 51 and Dave Poskitt 3 for 43.

The 2nd XI won a close game at Northern where the home team won the toss and put Sefton in to bat. They reached 180 for 5 declared with Matthew Phythian (56 not out), Bruce Neary (48) and John Armstrong (30 not out) being the pick of the batsmen. In reply Northern finished 4 runs short on 176 with John Armstrong completing a fine all round performance by taking 7 for 56 and Steve Delve took the remainder of the wickets with 3 for 34.

The 3rdXI defeated Southport on the Lower Ground. They were also put in to bat and made 248 for 4 with Nick Cockrell (68 not out) and Phil Heath (60 not out) top scoring. In reply Southport were dismissed for 174 with Kev Neil (4 for 22) and Noel Harris (3 for 54) taking wickets.

The 4thXI suffered the only defeat of the day at Ormskirk.They made 145 with Matt Whelan (26), Scott Isaac (26) and Naj Ahmed (24) contributing but the home team lost only 2 wickets in reaching the total.

Sunday 5th June...Double for Bootle

Both the 1stXI and 2ndXI lost knockout games to Bootle.

At Bootle the 1st XI saw the home team make 259 for 9 in the 45 overs with John Jackson taking 3 for 36. In reply Sefton made 187 for 8 with Paul Horton(46), John Jackson (37) and Howard Parker (24) making runs.

At home the 2ndXI made 163 for 7 in the 45 overs with Sean Hogan (46 not out), Dave Hort (44) and Raz Salim (22) being the pick. The visitors lost 3 wickets in reaching the required total with 3 overs to spare.
