11th/12th June....Exciting finish for 1stXI and five wins out of five for the weekend.

Paul Horton's excellent form continued as he scored 151 in Sefton Park's remarkable game at Northern. They were put into bat and reached 266 for 4 declared. Phil Disley made 48 not out and Ben Moore scored 31. The game ended up with Dave Poskitt knocking over the last man's middle stump with the last ball of the day with Northern 5 runs short of the Sefton total. Dave Poskitt took 4 for 64 and Robbie Houghton 3 for 48 and there were three run outs, two with direct hits. Scorer Dave Smith said that it was the most exciting game that he had ever scored in.

The 2ndXI defeated Wallasey at home. The visitors batted first and were dismissed for 204 with Phil Calrow (3-39) and John Armstrong (3-69) being the pick of the bowlers. In reply Howie Baird was dismissed just 3 runs short of his hundred as Sefton gained a 7 wicket victory. Dave Hort (46) and Adam Rowland 25 (not out) gave excellent support.

The 3rdXI won at Bootle with the home side batting first and scoring 171 for 7 declared, Chris Saunders took 3 for 21. In reply Nick Cockrell (67 not out), Ian Squires (34) and Gareth Cowley (30) were the main batsmen as Sefton reached the required total for the loss of 4 wickets.

The 4th XI had a comfortable win against Wallasey on the Lower Ground. The visitors were dismissed for 96 with Brian Viner taking 4 for 26. In reply skipper Robin Surtees top scored with 41 and Ian Seabury made 22 not out in a 5 wicket victory.

Sunday saw the 3rdXI begin their defence of the Embee Trophy with a game against New Brighton on the Lower Ground. New Brighton batted first and were dismissed for 131 with Brian Viner's 4 for 12 in 8 overs being the pick of the bowling. Despite interruptions for rain Andy Battersby (54) and Adam Norcott (54 not out) led the side to victory by 8 wickets, making it five wins out of five for the Sefton Park sides this weekend
