Saturday 19th July...... Howard Parker takes nine wickets

Howard Parker took 9 for 39 in 19.4 overs as St Helens Recs were dismissed for 165 after scoring 89 for the first wicket, Vin Mane took the other wicket.

Sefton Park reached the St Helen Recs total for the loss of 7 wickets with Paul Horton scoring 80 not out and Vin Mane getting 44. This puts them back into second place after a defeat for Fleetwood Hesketh aginst Liverpool.

Not for the first time this season, the results of the other three sides were disappointing. The 2nd XI lost at home to Wallasey who scored 216 for 6 declared with Kev Neil taking 6 for 77. In reply, Sefton Park started well with good scores from both openers Shabir Mostafa (47) and Andy Bailey (43) but when they were out only Adam Norcott (23) offered any resistance as they were dismissed for 136.

The 2nd XI now find themselves in bottom place in the table and games against the sides immediately above them in the table, Maghull and Colwyn Bay, in the next two weeks could proove to be very important.

Wallasey were also the opponents on the Lower Ground for Nev Bann's 3NBXI. The away side batted first and declared on 169 for 7 and in reply Sefton Park were dismissed for 63.

The 3RSXI were more unlucky at Ormskirk where the home team batted first and scored 132 with Tim Rylands taking 3 for 33 in 19 overs. In reply Sefton were dismissed for 123 with Robin Surtees top scoring with 33.
