2nd July 2005....Another 1stXI win and nine wickets for Kev Neil on Lower Ground

Lytham were the visitors to Sefton Park for the 1stXI game. Sefton won the toss, batted first and started well with half centuries from Paul Horton (60) and Ramesh Powar (50) but in the end required a last wicket stand of 29 by Paul Squires (18) and Stuart Wade (15 not out) to enable them to reach 169 all out in 59 overs. In reply the visitors made some early runs but the introduction of spinners Robbie Houghton (3 for 35) and Ramesh Powar (5 for 25) saw them collapse to 113 all out and another fine Sefton Park victory

The 2nd XI suffered a disappointing defeat at Southport where they dismissed the opposition for 154 with Mark Forster (4 for 35) and John Armstrong ( 4 for 34) being the pick of the bowlers. In reply, however, they were dismissed for 137 with the last 3 wickets falling in consecutive balls. Ted Williams (26) and John Armstrong (23) were the pick of batsmen.

The performance of the day came on the Lower Ground where the 3rd XI played Maghull. The visitors batted first and were dismissed for 119 with Kevin Neil taking 9 for 36. He took the first nine wickets and bowled two and a half overs at the last batsmen before Chris Saunders took the last wicket. In reply Sefton lost 5 wickets in reaching the total with Adam Norcott (32) and Andy Battersby (25) being the pick of the batsmen.

Sunday 3rd July.....3rdXI into Semis of Embee Trophy

The 3rd XI moved in to semi-finals of the Embee Trophy which they won last year with a victory at Leigh. Nick Cockrell (76) and Adam Norcott (53) were the top scorers in Sefton's total of 225 for 6 in their 40 overs. In reply Leigh were all out for 130.
