30th July..........First 2ndXI hundred for Matthew Phythian (and another for Howie Baird)

The 1stXI visited Ormskirk where the home team batted first and scored 222 for 9 declared in 55 overs. Dave Poskitt was the pick of the bowlers, taking 4 for 43. In reply Sefton scored 4 runs for the loss of Ben Moore's wicket and faced 15 balls before rain stopped play for the day.

The 2ndXI had more luck with the weather in their home win against Huyton. Matthew Phythian scored his first 2ndXI hundred, making 102 not out, and Howie Baird followed last week's 110 not out at New Brighton with another century, being dismissed on 105. All these runs enabled Steve Delve to declare on 233 for 2 in 44 overs. In reply Huyton were all out for 169 with Phil Calrow (4 for 45) and Kev Neil (3 for 34) being the pick of the bowlers.

The 3rdXI faced New Brighton PD on the Lower Ground. The visitors batted first and scored 207 for 5 in 58 overs. Sefton never gave up the chase and with Adam Norcott (87) and Nick Cockrell (45) leading the way ended up with the last man, Brian Viner, requiring a four of the last ball. No run was scored but he survived for Sefton to finish on 204 for 9 and earn a deserved draw.

The 4thXI visited Liverpool and made 169 for 9 declared with Ian Seabury (58) and Andy Foulder (38) making runs. Liverpool lost 4 wickets in reaching the Sefton total.
