6th August.....1stXI home defeat to Huyton.

The 1stXI lost at home to Huyton, who won the toss and batted first. They made 193 with Howard Parker taking 4 for 57 and Ramesh Powar 3 for 75. In reply Sefton who were without Paul Horton, playing for Lancashire, were at one time 18 for 4 and then 42 for 5 but rallied thanks to Ramesh Powar (64) and Robbie Houghton (55 not out) but were eventually all out for 169.

The 2ndXI visited Ormskirk, won the toss, and put the home team in to bat. They declared at 186 for 7 in 52 overs with Peter Kelly taking 4 for 61. In reply Sefton reached 172 for 8 in 42 overs to earn a draw with Peter Jones making 61 and Phil Calrow 28.

The 3rd XI visited Birchfield Park and, in a low scoring game, were put in to bat. Sefton reached 124 for 9 in 37 overs with Raz Salim (36), Scott Isaac (22) and Adam Norcott (22) top scoring. In reply Birchfield were dismissed for 48 with Peter Hazlehurst (4 for 12), Noel Harris (2 for 6) and Brian Viner (3 for 10) being the pick of the bowlers in a fine win.

The 4thXI played New Brighton JW on the Lower Ground. The visitors batted first and reached 239 for 5 declared. In reply Kev Walton (69) and Ian Seabury (28) top scored as Sefton reached 135 for 4 in a drawn game.

Sunday 7th August...Defeat in Embee Trophy.

The 3rdXI were knocked out of the Embee Trophy at the semi final stage by Bootle. Sefton batted first and reached 111 in 33 overs with Iain Squires (37) and Raz Salim (26) top scoring. In reply Bootle lost 3 wickets in reaching the Sefton total
