Below is Stuart Marshall-Clarke's report on the success of the Cricket Force day.

"Sunday 9th April saw a fantastic response to the Club's "Cricket Force" event.

Close to 40 people turned up and participated enthusiastically in a variety of projects under the direction of new groundsman Steve Briggs. Fortified by bacon butties and sustained by lunch( and the promise of a beer voucher at the end of the day), the intrepid volunteers achieved far more that the Cricket committee had thought possible when planning the event.

The following projects were either fully or largely completed:

Renovation and painting of sightscreens
Painting dressing rooms main pavilion
Gully clearing
Clear litter from clubhouse surrounds
Make new post holes lower ground
Clear debris from car park edges
Clear area to side of lower pavilion
Renovate outfield damage from football
Paint railings
Tidy and clean changing rooms lower pavilion
Plant hawthorn hedge rear lower pavilion
Clear scrub and level land to rear of lower pavilion
Create new rose beds
Roll both squares
Repair fencing to rear of garage
Tidy area to rear of rose garden
Repaint scoring tins
Recover netting to practice cage
Tidy and paint score box

We were really grateful for the assistance of eight member of the Mersey Centurions American Football team. The Centurions have been using Sefton Park CC as a training base for the past few months and it was great to see them getting involved.

Special mention should also go to Steve and Geoff Delve who have been working really hard over the past couple of weeks to fix the sightscreens.

The event not only served its purpose in getting a series of tasks completed, it was also a great exercise in team building and a good introduction to new members to the club.

A big thank you to everyone who took part and also to Mike Poole, John Morgan, Steve Briggs and Stuart MC for their sponsorship".
