The 2nd XI end their losing run with a tie at Huyton whose 1st XI were
also involved in a tie. Huyton batted first and declared on 180 for
8 with Bruce Neary taking 4 for 52. In reply, for Sefton Park, Chris
Hart (33) and Matt Williamson (33) both made useful contributions as
Ali Khan was dismissed on 36 going for the winning run.
Both 3rd XIs suffered defeats against strong opposition. The 3NBXI
visited Bootle and made 154 as Tony Green top scored with 62. The highlight
of the innings, though, was a last wicket stand of 47 by eleven year
old Robert Kelly and chairman Mike Poole who finished with an undefeated
39. Bootle lost only one wicket in reaching the Sefton Park total.
On the lower ground, the 3RS XI scored 106 against Liverpool, with
Stuart Marshall-Clarke (39) and Michael Phythian (22) top scoring. Again
this was insufficient as Liverpool lost only three wickets achieving
their target.
