Saturday 29th April.....More Disappointments

The 1stXI suffered their third defeat in the Premier League Knockout, losing at home to Fleetwood Hesketh. They first and reached 219 for 7 in 45 overs with Rhys Jowett (73) ,Chris Bellis (69) and Peter Jones (34 not out) being thepick of the batsman. In reply the visitors lost 6 wickets in reaching the Sefton total on the second ball of the last over. Robbie Houghton took 3 for 26 and Stuart Wade 2 for 26.

The 2nd XI travelled to Fleetwood Hesketh and saw the home team make 260 for 8 in their 45 overs. Matthew Pownall put in another fine bowling performance, taking 5 for 58. In reply Sefton were dismissed for 208 with John Davies (39) and Steve Delve (33) top scoring.

The 3rd XI visited Northern and were defeated by a strong home side. Sefton batted first and scored 100 with Rick Anderson making 25 and Kevin Walton 17. In reply Northern lost 1 wicket reaching the Sefton total.

The 4th XI completed another disappointing day when they were defeated by Liverpool's 3rd XI on the Lower Ground. Robin Surtees made 56 and Tom Baird 13 in the Sefton Park total of 119.The visitors went on to win by 6 wickets with Robin Surtees taking 2 for 40.

Sunday 30th April...Defeat in Cockspur Cup

The 1stXI were defeated by Urmston in the Cockspur Cup (National KO) at Sefton Park. The visitors batted first and reached 222 for 7 in the 45 overs with Dave Poskitt taking 3 for 49. In reply Sefton started well with Ben Moore (33), Chris Wylie (41) and Dave Hort (45) making runs but tight bowling by the visitors saw Sefton slip behind the run rate and they finished on 214 for 7.
