Saturday 13th May.......A Win at Last
The 1st XI achieved their first win of the season in their home Premier League
game against Leigh. Sefton won the toss and put the visitors in to bat. Mark
Forster took 4 for 64 and Dave Poskitt 3 for 54 as they were dismissed for
195. In reply Paul Horton scored an undefeated 93 to lead the home side to
a 1 wicket victory, achieved in the last over of the day. Skipper Ben Moore
scored 52.
The 2ndXI visited Southport and saw the home side declare on 174 for 3 in
45 overs after putting them in to bat. In reply two batsmen who are in good
form, John Davies with 52 not out and Steve Delve (40) led Sefton to a 4 wicket
victory in the 37th over.
The 3rd XI won the toss at home to Ormskirk and put the visitors in to bat.
They scored 150 for the first wicket and went on to declare on 184 for 4.
In reply Sefton reached 138 for 8 to gain a draw. Kevin Walton (32), Matt
Childs (30) and Mohammad Nawab (28) all made contributions with the bat.
The 4th XI visited Wallasey in a bottom of the table clash. The home team
won the toss and put Sefton in to bat. They reached 153 with newcomer Vince
Able making 57 and skipper Robin Surtees adding 32. In reply Wallasey were
40 for 4 at tea to give Sefton hope of first victory but lost only one more
wicket in reaching the required total. Vince Able took 5 for 57 to complete
a magnificent all round performance.
