Saturday 27th May......Six Wickets for Dave Poskitt in defeat of Maghull

The Bank Holiday weekend started with an excellent win against Maghull at Sefton Park. Brendan Taylor played his first game for the Club and made an immediate impact scoring 63, but when he was out for the fifth wicket on 85, Sefton did not look like making a big score. Robbie Houghton then proceeded to score 67 as Sefton finished on 185, an outstanding score considering the rain that has fallen during the week.

When Maghull batted Dave Poskitt took 6 for 26 and Stuart Wade 3 for 31 to dismiss Maghull for 95.

The 2ndXI visited Formby and gained a five wicket victory. Sefton won the toss and put the home side in to bat and saw them score 181 for 2 declared. In reply Nick Cockrell scored 86 and Ian Seabury 35 in visitors successful reply.

The 3rd XI travelled to New Brighton to play their "JW" XI. They lost the toss and were put in to bat and scored an excellent 249 for 6 declared. Terry Cordner (64), Matt Childs (60), Kev Walton (58) and Scott Isaac (35) top scored. In reply the home side made 161 for 8 with Sam Gainer taking 3 for 3 and Brian Viner 2 for 44 as the game was drawn.

The 4th XI are still looking for their first win after playing Southport on the Lower Ground. Sefton won the toss, put the visitors in to bat and saw them score 160 for 5 declared. In reply Sefton were dismissed for 58 with Robin Surtees (20) and Tom Baird (11) top scoring.

Monday 29th May.....Defeat at Bootle

The 1stXI visited Bootle for the Bank Holiday fixture. They batted first and scored 120 not out in 44 overs with Brendan Taylor making his second half century of the weekend with a score of 52.

In reply Robbie Houghton took 3 for 13 but the home side reached the necessary total for the loss of 5 wickets in the 24th over.

The 2ndXI scored 228 for 7 declared with Dave Hort scoring 84 not out in their home game against Colwyn Bay. John Davies (62) and David Baird (35) made excellent contributions but it was not enough as the visitors reached the Sefton total for the loss of only 2 wickets.
