Friday 9th June...Defeat at Birkenhead Park in Echo Knockout

The 1st XI travelled to Birkenhead Park in the Echo Knockout and suffered a 6 wicket defeat.

Sefton batted first and scored 124 for 7 in their 20 overs with Ben Moore top scoring with 25. In reply the home side lost 4 wickets as they reached the required total in their 19th over, Nick Cockrell tok 2 for 6.

10th June..........Defeat on Remarkable Day

Sefton Park found themselves disappointed at the end of another record breaking day. Playing at home to Ormskirk, they won the toss and elected to bat on an excellent wicket. Paul Horton scored 118 not out, Ben Moore 74 and Brendan Taylor 54 in a total of 297 for 4 declared in 55 overs. In reply, Ormskirk always looked comfortable as they took only 46 overs to reach the total, also loosing 4 wickets. Robbie Houghton took 2 for 96.

The 2ndXI visited Huyton and had another run chase following a declaration. Huyton won the toss and batted, going on to reach 233 for 7 declared in 50 overs, Phil Calrow took 3 for 62. In reply Sefton reached the required total in the 36th over with Matty Phythian (77), Dave Hort (36) and John Davies (48) making the runs.

The 3rdXI visited Liverpool where the home side batted first and scored 211, Mohammad Nawab took 3 for 48. In reply Rick Anderson (54) , Matt Childs (26) and Stuart Lomas (19) top scored but this was not enough as Sefton were dismissed for 176.

The 4thXI felt that they should have beaten Bootle on the Lower Ground. They batted first and scored 208 for 8 declared with Stuart Marshall-Clarke making 34, Jakob Surtees-Smith 31, Raz Salim 30, Pama Singh 22 and Jamie Bowman 20 not out. In Reply Naj Ahmed took 4 for 48 and Robin Surtees 2 for 10 but this was not enough as Bootle held on to finish on 160 for 8 in a drawn game.

Sunday 11th June...2ndXI Progress in Chester Cup and another defeat for 3rdXI in Embee Trophy

Chris Wylie scored 120 not out and took 3 for 30 as the 2ndXI progressed into the next round of the Chester Cup against Ainsdale at Sefton Park. The visitors batted first and scored 182 for 7 in their 45 overs, Nick Cockrell took 2 for 7. Sefton reached the required total comfortably for the loss of only 2 wickets.

The 3rdXI were reinstated in the Embee Trophy after Wallasey withdrew over doubts about the eligibility of some of their players!!.

This weekend, they visited Liverpool and put in a good performance but were beaten by 1 wicket. Sefton won the toss, batted first and went on to score 168 in the 40 overs with Scott Isaac making 41. In reply Paul Hegarty took 5 for 32 in his 8 overs as Liverpool reached 170 for 9 to win.
