12th August.................... 1st XI Draw against Wallasey

The 1stXI remained bottom of the League but put in a much better performance against Wallasey at Sefton Park. The visitors won the toss and put Sefton in to bat. Brendan Taylor made the top score with 65 and there were good performances by Ben Moore (23) and Chris Bellis (22) who put on 50 for the first wicket together. However, there was still some work to be done as they found themselves on 180 for 8 and a ninth wicket stand of 74 by Chris Wylie (45 not out) and Dave Poskitt (24) took them to 254 for 9 declared in 55 overs. In reply the visitors made steady progress after an opening stand of 61 but were never quite up with the required run rate and they went on to finish on 198 for 7 in 50 overs.

The 2ndXI visited Wallasey, were put in to bat and went on to score 200 for 4 declared in 45 overs. Max Hill scored 54 not out, Dave Hort 53 and Paul Squires 42. In reply Wallasey lost 2 wickets in reaching the Sefton total in the 44th over.

The 3rdXI gained the one victory of the day on the Lower Ground. They won the toss and put New Brighton JW in to bat and dismissed them for 111, Brian Viner took 3 for 31 and Paul Hegarty, Ian Kelly and Sean Hogan took 2 wickets apiece. In reply Sefton lost 4 wickets in reaching the total, Peter Lancaster (32), James Pearce (31) and Gaz Cowley (27 not out ) made the runs.

The 4thXI visited Southport and saw the home side make 218 for 6 declared, Pama Singh took 3 for 43. In reply Sefton made 179 for 8 with Terry Cordner making 44 and Maadhav Kathari 31 in a drawn game

Saturday 19th August....Rained Off

All the Sefton Park games were rained off this weekend. We now look forward to the Bank Holiday weekend with two 1stXI home games against Huyton and Bootle.
