Saturday 26th August...Defeat by Huyton

The 1stXI's run of poor results continued with a defeat by Huyton at Sefton Park. Sefton won the toss and decided to bat and, after being 84 for 7 and 111 for 8, they reached 150 all out in the 58th over. Top scorers were Chris Bellis (22), Mark Forster (20) and Stuart Wade (24 not out). In reply Huyton were at one time 96 for 5 but lost only one more wicket in reaching the required total. Former Sefton Park favourite Ritchie Bann, playing for Huyton, is about to be caught by Dave Poskitt off his own bowling

The 2nd XI visited Ormskirk and batted first after losing the toss. They reached 185 for 8 in 49.3 overs with Chris Saunders (38 not out), David Baird (25) and Max Hill (22) being the pick of the batsmen. In reply Ormskirk won the game off the last ball, reaching 186 for 8 in 46 overs. Dave Baird took 3 for 41, Ted Williams 3 for 42 and Dave Kelly 2 for 38.

The 3rdXI played Liverpool's 3rdXI on the Lower Ground and saw the visitors reach 212 for 2 after putting them in to bat. Brian Viner took the 2 wickets to fall for 38 runs. In reply Sefton were dismissed for 143 with Vince Abel (33) , Peter Lancaster (32) and Jamie Rock (24) making runs.

This was Brian Viner's last game for the Club before he goes to live in the USA. He has proved to be a very popular figure in the Club. Thanks for your help Brian and good luck on your travels.
