Reflecting on the on 2006 season that has just finished I must give thanks to the people who have helped the website. As ever the biggest contribution came from 1stXI scorer Dave Smith, keeping me up to date with the scorecards and averages every Saturday night. Thanks go to the captains Ben Moore, Steve Delve, Brian Viner and Robin Surtees as well as all the acting captains, Nick Cockrell, Paul Squires, Kev Walton, Stuart Marshall-Clarke and Terry Cordner. As ever, it must be annoying to get pestered for the score in the middle of the many other tasks that they have to carry out on a Saturday night.

In many ways it was a disappointing season with the first and fourth teams getting relegated and the Sunday XI pulling out of the League but this was balanced by the number of young players who were given their chance in the fourth XI which nearly avoided relegation and moved off the bottom place in the last game of the season. Even more pleasing was the young second XI finishing fifth in their league in a season that culminated in a victory over champions Bootle. Whilst it was disappointing that so many players left the Club or were unavailable for various reasons, there was good bunch of new players who joined the Club and are already showing enthusiasm for next year.

We must also thank Steve Briggs, our new groundsman for his efforts, some excellent wickets in a summer of climatic extremes

Thanks, finally, to the visitors to this website, we averaged over a hundred a day for most of the summer, it makes it worthwhile spending a few minutes doing it.
