!Sefton Super League!

After 13 weeks, the 20-darter strong !Sefton Super League! has reached the Christmas break of its inaugural season with unbeaten Stuart “Killer” Lomas leading pre-season favourite Robin Lindo on leg difference.  Lying in wait with games in hand in third and fourth are Simon Gozzard and club captain Robbie Houghton, the only other player to have yet tasted defeat.  These four already appear to be nigh-on certainties for the end of season quarter-final stages which are scheduled get underway from the end of February.

It seems to be a case of ‘perm 4 from 8’ for the remaining four places with 9 players having between 8 and 10 points: Mark “Der Kaiser” Boyns, the well-dressed Alum Ullah, John “Mexican Prince” Davies and Iwan “Top Cat” Williams currently hold the key positions but there’s little to pick between them and the next four men: John Garnett, Chris “The Bullet” Bellis, fast improving Robin “Geordie Express” Brown and cricket chairman Chris Wylie.

At the bottom, 3rd XI skipper James Pearce remains rooted to the foot of the table without a point with Dave Walton, who will spend the festive period theorising on ways to end a 12 leg losing streak, just above him after opening with a win; Stephen “Yorkshire Justice” Royston also appears to be struggling to get away from the bottom following his recent defeat to Jamie “Arrows” Bowman.  It was the first win of the campaign for the 5th XI captain and the self-dubbed ‘unluckiest man in darts’ is now just one point from the qualification places for the “Sefton Plate”, which will be held for the players finishing between 9th and 16th, leaving Jonny Woodsmith, 4th team skip Robin Surtees, Aberdonian Jon Northcroft and Paul “Stairhands” Stairmand nervously looking over their shoulders.

The oche action returns to Sefton on Tuesday 6 January for the remaining seven weeks of the regular season.  Get down to the club on a Tuesday evenings from 7pm onwards to see what all the fuss is about, and keep up with all the results and news in the award-winning* Arrow publication which can be found on the back notice-board in the pavilion.
