Under 9 ReportOur thanks to Kevin Parr for the first Under 9 report of the season:- After winter nets the under 9s were better prepared going into the new season
than ever before and with new faces at the training sessions on a Monday this
season promises to be a good one. Old Xavs hosted ourselves Wavertree and Bootle but didn't actually field
a team themselves! SPCC 257 v Rainhill 254 = Won by 3 runs SPCC 236 v Alder 'B' 239 = Lost by 3 runs SPCC 212 v Alder 'A' 238 = Lost by 26 runs The player of the day was Tom Wilson who helped us to achieve one of our highest scores with many boundaries including three 6s. Special mention to Sefton's Lewis Hogben who sportingly agreed to help out Alder 'B' who were a player short. He put on plenty of runs for them too including a fine 6 which unfortunately helped to defeat us!! Also a special mention for James the captain of Alder 'A' who took 5 catches on the boundary and effectively won the match for his team. Well played! |

Under 9 UpdateMore information from the Under 9's thanks to Kevin Parr Sunday 14th June at Wavertree SPCC 220 v Wavertree 219 Victory over a strong and previously undefeated Wavertree side came with the final ball. Sefton needed a wicket to win with the final ball of Lewis Hogben's over and Tom Wilson duly obliged with a run out. Notably 5 of Sefton's 8 bowlers took wickets. SPCC 245 v Moorfields 221 Sefton made a handy 45 runs and even with the loss of 2 early wickets set a decent score. The bowlers claimed 4 wickets including Matthew Duffy's wicket maiden. SPCC 285 v Old Xaverians 198 This win was notable for several reasons - our highest ever run total, our highest winning margin and our highest ever wicket haul with Sefton taking 7 wickets. Tom Wilson accounted for 4 of those wickets in his single over. Great team performances on the day and difficult to chose a player of the day but Tom deserved this accolade for his overall performance in the 3 matches. |
