With the season nearly upon us this newsletter
contains a big round-up of events and notable dates
over the coming months. If it's a bit listy, don't
blame me - I just write the damn thing.
Players meeting and social night 4th April
There will be a Player's Meeting from 7.30 onwards on
Friday 4 April to discuss on matters cricket-related.
Also, for any players requiring CRB checks, the local
guy who does CRB checks will be in attendance from 9pm
onwards. Everyone who needs one - meaning at the very
least Wylo, Robbie H, Jamie, Boynsy, Robin S, BV,
James Pearce, Briggsy, Squiz, Finchy, Neil Disley,
Dave Cunningham and myself - needs to bring their
passport, birth certificate, driving
licence plus a recent utility bill or bank statement
with your current address on.
With all the serious stuff out the way there will be a
70s night/club sports night/player auction.
If you want to join in the sports you need to come as
a pair to take part in darts, possibly pool, possibly
dominoes, possibly table-tennis and come prepared!
There's some discussion as to doing a player auction
- a la the Indian Cricket league - so we can have a
fantasy cricket competition based on player
performances throughout the season.
Groundforce Day follows on Saturday 5 April at 9AM.
Bacon butties and tea will be provided throughout the
day for the faithful, while a swift punt may be had on
The club really needs your support on this day - even
if you can only make it for a few hours, so please do
your bit. Bring any tools you may have!
1st and 2nd team friendlies may follow on sunday,
The season starts!
Rub down your bat and linseed oil up your back, it's
the start of the cricket season on 12th April.
There's a couple of captaincy changes in the offing
for this season, with Rob Houghton taking over from
Ben Moore as club and 1st team captain. Neil Disley
take over as 2s from Max Hill, Jamie Bowman takes the
helm of the new fifth team, while Boynsy is skippering
the sunday eleven. Best of luck to all!
My 21st birthday party follows at the club, so anyone
fancying a bit of karaoke and booze is welcome.
Celebrate victories, drink away defeats, nurse
debilitating injuries, embarrass yourself on a
Grounds-keeper duties will be shared by Briggsy and BV
- the Walter Matthau and, er, Walter Matthau of
Sefton! Good luck to both, and here's to the great
British summer being a little more friendly to
groundsmen everywhere. That's 15 strips, BV!

Junior registration and kit swap
There will be a junior kit swap and registration night
on 28th april at 6pm. The kit swap will be for anyone
who's outgrown their stuff and need to get hands on
bigger stuff. It's £1 per item swapped.
