Sefton Park Women's team got the season off to a stunning start, winning all four of their opening fixtures in the Liverpool & District CC women's softball tournament.
Playing each team twice, Sefton were pitted against Northern Ninjas, who finished 3rd in last year's competition, and Hightown Hurricanes, led by their taliswoman Aimee-Louise Conlan-Bloor.
The tone was set by Frankie Morris, with two wickets in the first over of the day against Northern, including a caught and bowled from the first ball. Sefton reduced Northern to 198 after their eight overs, and then posted 215 in reply including a glorious final partnership from Sarah and Anna John.
Hightown were beaten by 20 runs in the second game, including a debut wicket from Emma xxxx. The 3rd game saw a much tighter margin where Sefton beat Northern by a single run, featuring a match winning batting partnership from Zoe and Georgie Ryan
The clean sweep was complete with a second victory over Hightown, including an LBW from Sarah John in the second over, a caught and bowled by debutant Emma and excellent fielding, especially from Ryan patrolling the deep cover boundary, limiting Hightown to 218.
Sefton posted 246 in reply, including tight batting from Ciara O'Connor and Sarah Jackson as the second pair, and a final flourish with boundaries from Ryan and Anna John.
Sefton play their next round of matches on 6th September at Hightown Cricket Club.
