Sunday 15th June - Second XI through to semis of Chester Cup

Sefton 2XI moved into the Chester Cup semi-finals with victory over Birkenhead Park this afternoon. Rob Supria blasted 84 from 61 balls and skipper Tom Rushton 82 as Sefton racked up 274-7 from their 40 overs. Park needed a good start if they were going to get close and Ronan Brady took 5-31 to prevent that - reducing the visitors to 53-5. Ultimately, Birkenhead were bowled out for 158 in the 29th over.

Sefton Women's Lancashire Cup tie seemed to be heading for a quick finish as they were 14-4 in the fourth over; even with Sarah Jackson's 25 their 76 all out seemed far too low to be competitive. An excellent effort in the field made a real game of it, however; Eleanor Cantwell took 3-13 and Edgworth were 23-5 but Alex Ross scored 26* as they squeaked home by 3 wickets.


Sefton U13 are into the semi-finals of the Lancashire rounds of their national knockout after a good win at Orrell Red Triangle. Jacob Patterson-Stevenson took 2-6 and Rai Salik Ahmad 2-9 as the hosts were bowled out for bowled out for 68. Rai Haris Ahmad scored an unbeaten 33 as Sefton won by seven wickets.


Both Sunday sides lost - the AWXI were bowled out for 128 at Liverpool, despite Zainullah Gul's 46, and lost by 9 wickets whilst the RBXI could only make 142 on the lower ground (Chris Mitchell 49) and lost by 5 wickets to Mossley Hill, though Jack Hoban's 3-30 had them at 39-4 at one point.
