James Whittaker's Sunday XI hosted Newton le Willows in the 3XI Sunday Premier League and were indebted to opener Jeremy Rogers who hit 78 before some valuable lower order runs came from Chris Salmon (22) and Shadab Khan (18) took the hosts to 171 all out. Shadab then excelled with the ball, taking 4-37 off 17 overs as the visitors closed on 166-8 in a closely drawn game.
Alex Woods' Sunday XI made the short trip to Mossley Hill where James Woods (43) and Tom Rushton (41) helped Sefton reach 139 all out. James then completed a fantastic all round performance, taking 7-21 off 20.1 overs as the home side fell just seven runs short of the target. A nice side note from the game was that father and son pairing, Neil and Ben Lester, faced each other on opposing sides!
A top of the table clash in the Lancashire Women's 40 Over League saw Sefton Park hosting Ramsbottom who posted a formidable score of 224-5 with Eleanor Cantwell (2-37) the pick of the bowlers. Sarah Jackson (46) and Sarah John (38) did well with the bat but Sefton closed on 167-8.
