Sunday 23rd August - A draw and a narrow defeat on frustrating day

Alex Woods' Sunday XI travelled to Crosby to take on Liverpool Lions who batted for 50 overs in compiling their total of 234-7 declared. There were two wickets apiece for Sarhad Rustom (2-76) and Will Saunders (2-34).

The visitors got just 30 overs to reach the target with the inevitable draw secured by an opening stand of 89 between Alex (62) and Ben Lester (22) as Sefton closed on 132-4.

Ronan Brady's Sunday XI hosted a real nail-biter against Southport Trinity. Jack Clements hit

25 at the top of the order but it was Wolf Bayley who recused the innings with 26 as Sefton were dismissed for 144. Ronan (3-53) and Angus Blankenstein (4-25) took the game to the wire with the visitors still requiring three runs when the ninth wicket fell before Trinity just got over the line.
