After Saturday's disappointments, Sunday came to the rescue again with some positive results.
James Whittaker's Sunday XI travelled to Oxton where the hosts won the toss and batted - a decision they were soon to regret. Niamat Ullah proceeded to take 5-13 and Chris Mitchell 3-17 as Oxton were skittled for just 39 before the visitors wrapped up an eight wicket win off just nine overs. They now sit second in the 3rd XI (Sunday) Premier Division.
On the lower ground, Alex Woods' Sunday XI hosted Merseyside Sports and Cultural Club in Division One with the visitors electing to bat. After dismissing both openers without scoring, MSCC recovered to post 165 all out with James Woods taking 4-27. Alex, who is captaining, keeping wicket and opening the batting, hit 26 but that was as good as it got as Sefton were bowled out for 74.
In the Women's T20 league, Sefton Park Women's 1st XI travelled to Leigh to play their 2nd XI. Sefton were put into bat and skipper Sarah John proceeded to hit an unbeaten 100 off 53 balls - Sarah is in a rich vein of form after hitting two half-centuries last weekend! Emma Arnold chipped in with 34 allowing the visitors to post 177-5 of their 20 overs. Lorna Harper then took 4-8 as Sefton sealed a 97 run victory.
The victorious Women's 1st XI, including run machine, Sarah John (top row, 2nd left).
